Further admonishment

Cobra Lilies Shall ALTER YOUR BIOLOGY TONIGHT

Not really, but we are playing a show tonight and it's going to be GLORIOUS. GLORRR-EEEEE-USSSS. I can't emphasize this enough. You do not want to miss this one because we're doing...this thing. I can't reveal what it is yet. But it's gonna be BIG.

It's at Pehrspace with Smells Like Flan. If nothing else you should come out and see Smells Like Flan--two ladies with a harp! Yeah! They played their first ever show in a living room years back AND it was also the Monolators' very first show! We go back.

THEY DOMINATE YER BUNZ!

Really I have been looking forward to this show all week and I'm glad it's here! Wheee! Love us! Come to Pehrspace tonight! It's five buckeroos, Flan plays at 10, we play at midnight.

I'm also gonna try to record the show tonight. DO YOU WANNA BE ON ONE OF OUR FOUR-TRACK TAPES? 'Course you do. You and your lips. Your sexy sexy lips.

"I like to sweat!"
-Grace Jones

Much love,
Cobra Lilies!

Cobra Lilies tonight at Pehrspace

Three quarters of the Monolators are also in the Cobra Lilies, so it seems fitting to mention this at this juncture:

Cobra Lilies haven't played for a few months, so we're very excited. There are surprises. I'm also going to try to record the show.

Plus, Smells Like Flan: the Monolators played our very first show ever, back when we went by a different name (ask if you're bored), in Mary's living room with Smells Like Flan. This is their first show in years and years. It's at Pehrspace tonight.

Rat Brain Flies Jet

I...words fail me.

Florida scientists have grown a brain in a petri dish and taught it to fly a fighter plane.

"When we first hooked them up, the plane 'crashed' all the time."

Rock With A Twist

Tomorrow night (Thursday, that is) we're playing another installment of Rock With A Twist, our bimonthly pretzel-soaked event that lost its original home (The Scene) and is now graciously housed by Eagle Rock All Star Lanes. The lineup is Downtown/Union, Flying Tourbillon Orchestra, Jack Wilson, Jr., and our little selves. For this month Mary is attempting an entirely vegan recipe for the pretzels but I'm not sure how that's going.

But yeah: free show, free homemade pretzels!

The show is presented by Classical Geek Theater and LA Underground, the latter of whom made a very fine poster for the event; but I'd also like to make note of an earlier poster that Mary made, which, although lacking the complete lineup for the night, is quite magnificent:

Re-activation! And songs of the month

It's been a year and a half since I last posted. I have been BUSY. I make no apologies. But now it is time to re-activate; please welcome us back into your bosoms.

As for news; we've recorded and are almost finished mixing our new LP, and it will be out on vinyl and digital this fall. I will be stingy on details for now, but I shall elaborate when the time is right.

Also: I'd like to announce another re-activation, that of our Song Of The Month service. Some of you from the olden days may remember this--the idea is that you write us and request a that we perform a cover song, whatever it might be--and as long as we can figure out how to play it, we run through it a couple of times, make a quick and dirty live recording, and post it here on the blog.

So yes, we're now accepting requests once again. Please send them in either via email or myspace; our myspace is www.myspace.com/monolators, and our email is:

mail [at] themonolators dot com

Here are some past songs of the month to whet your appetite:

Mr. Roboto by Styx
Dancing Queen by ABBA
Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor
Perfect Day by Lou Reed
I Want You by Elvis Costello
The End by The Doors
